So I finally did it. I signed up to Creative Cloud. It was cheaper than usual in the Black Friday sale so I thought now would be the best time. So far I’ve only used After Effects and Photoshop. After Effects I’m not entirely sure the purpose I’ve found for it yet as I’m sure you can pretty much use the same sort of tools in Adobe Animate/Toon Boom Harmony. In terms of storyboards, you can use motion tweens but you can in those other programs too. I don’t think I would pay full price for the package though. At least not until I was actually making money from using them in a job.
I wouldn’t say After Effects is daunting but it can be a bit confusing to find things. Especially if you prefer to click things on-screen rather than use keyboard shortcuts.
